Description
The Y Junior Kindergarten program utilizes developmentally appropriate curricula to help children develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The program includes Creative Curriculum, physical education and swimming skills classes. Through the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, children will develop pre-writing skills and reading skills, such as alphabet recognition, name recognition and practice writing their name and letters of the alphabet. Children receive one half-hour swimming session each week to enjoy water exploration and to develop their swimming safety skills under the supervision of YMCA lifeguards. Extended care is offered on a first come first serve basis and is only available on the days your child is attending Junior Kindergarten. Pre-registration is required and the monthly fee is added to your Junior Kindergarten bill. Extended Care is available 7:30-8:30, 3:15-4:15 or 3:15-5:15.
Classes meet September through May and follow the public school district calendar of school closures for holidays and other events.
